There are lots of volunteer opportunities for adults at Ireland Murugan Temple.

  •        Assist Temple Priest
  •        Sharing your skills, talents or experiences with young people 
  •        Supporting us as a volunteer administrator, fundraiser, trainer, event organiser and much more!
You can volunteer for a short period to try it out and then see if you want to do more. All volunteers go through our recruitment process which includes reference checks and Garda vetting.

Vacancies

Part-time, Fixed Term Contract (1 year)
 
We have an urgent need to employ a part-time Priest (Religious Worker) to work with our existing team and the management committee. Ordained Hindu Priests undertake specific duties and the religious activities related to our method/form of worship.
 
The successful individual will be required to have in-depth knowledge, expertise and experience of conducting traditional Hindu ceremonies both within the temple and off-site where required. They will have a well-established background and proven experience in undertaking the duties listed below:
 
Conduct and lead traditional Hindu ceremonies (including daily poojas, abishekham, homum and other similar ceremonies). Essential for this role.
  •        Setup Abishekham, Homum and Pooja/preparation for daily and special ceremonies.
  •        Alangaram – decoration to all Deities.
  •        Archanai – Conduct personal ceremonies of dedication.
  •        Chanting of traditional mantras and texts.
  •        Other associated duties.
Pre-requisites:
  •        Must be ordained/conferred to Kurukkkalship (Vedaagamas).
  •        Must be able to perform basic traditional ceremonies without direction.
  •        Must be able to recite/chant vedic mantra’s and Slokas.
  •        Must have 2+ years’ experience working at a Saiva Hindu Temple.
  •        Must have strong communication skills and be able to converse in Tamil.
  •        Should be willing and committed to learn English as part of their personal development.
Education:
  •        Certificate of Higher Education (Preferred).
  •        Conferred to Kurukkkalship (Vedaagamas).
Language:
  •        Fluent Tamil (required), other languages desirable.
  •        Contract Type: Part-time, Fixed Term Contract (1 year)
